13 Reasons Why You Are Not Successful – And How You Can Change That Today
If you’re like most human beings, you’re constantly chasing success.
In your personal life, in business, in relationships… Every time we embark on a new life challenge, we strive to do our best and try to succeed at it, right?
Otherwise, what’s the point on even getting started?
But success doesn’t always happen to everyone. And if that’s your case, you may be repeatedly asking yourself Why You’re Not Successful.
There are many reasons why you might not be getting what you want out of your life.
Let me show you some of the most typical behaviours and thoughts that are the main success-stoppers and how you can deal with them.
You Do What Everybody Else Does
It’s easy to just go with the flow and follow the trends out there. But you’re never going to achieve amazing success it if you’re like everyone else.
What’s difficult is to be different.
What type of people do you see crushing it? The ones who are leaders or the followers?
Steve Jobs, Michael Jordan, Elon Musk, Steven Spielberg, Mark Zuckerberg, Gary Vaynerchuck… You know how successful people roll.
Do you think they reached the top of their careers just by copying others?
You need to be different, original, creative. Go nuts. Think outside of the box.
Forget about what everybody else is doing and be yourself.
You need to get out of your comfort zone and do what scares you, do those things that when they pop-up in your mind you go: “Nah, that’s crazy…”
Go crazy if that’s what it takes to achieve what you really want!
You Have Many Ideas But You Do Not Execute Them
It’s not enough to have the best idea in the world. You need to put it into practice if you want it to become real.
Every successful business, every great accomplishment, starts with an idea, which later becomes a plan and, through action, ends up shaping up.
Do not settle with just a great idea. That’s just the beginning. Go further. Make it happen.
If you don’t bet on it, somebody else might do it and then you’ll beat yourself up for not having given it the chance to become a reality.
Ideas are useless without execution and they won’t execute themselves.
Even if you are full of ideas and plan to make a living by selling them to other people, that would still require from you to make yourself known by that, and that again needs execution on your side.
You Are Always Procrastinating
There’s no such thing as the perfect moment.
If you’re constantly putting off something waiting for a sign to tell you when you should do it, it’s never going to happen.
Just do it. Do more. And do it NOW.
You’ll always have time to correct, rearrange or start over. But the more you try, the more experienced you’ll get. And every next step will be easier than the last.
Put your boat in the water and sail, you can always change the course. But at least, you’ll be sailing!
You Are Active But Not Productive
You may be busy all day, doing lots of stuff for hours… But have you ever stopped and really analyzed if all those things of your daily routine are taking you closer to your dreams and goals?
It’s not enough to be in constant movement, if you’re walking in circles or going on the wrong direction, you’ll never achieve what you want.
Take some time to revise which are the actions that will eventually lead you to your objectives.
Are you actually doing them the right way? Are they lined up with your final goal?
When you’re on social media, are you engaging with your audience and bringing value or you’re just sharing cute kitty posts and browsing through your feed on autopilot?
Do not lose your time. It’s better to take a moment to focus and revise your strategy, than just keep going when not really sure if you’re doing the right moves.
You Are Constantly Making Excuses
“I’m too old”… “I’m too young”… “It’s not the right time”… “If only I was…”
Hear me out: none of those matter to anybody out there.
The world is not going to give you more or less opportunities to succeed only because your social status, your gender, your location, your age…
We all got the same chances.
Yeah, as hard as it sounds, if you’re not succeeding right now, that’s absolutely on you. Do not blame the weather, your country or your parents… It’s your own fault.
So, stop making excuses, because that’s making you procrastinate, and you and I both know how that ends up.
Focus on what you want and just go for it. Cause the right time is always NOW.
You Focus On Your Weaknesses
Paying too much attention to the things you’re not good at, distracts you and takes up too much of your precious time.
Instead, focus on your strenghts. Think of one thing you master, something you’re good at and love to do.
It’s easier to move forward when your foundation rests on what you do best.
Turst me, do not try to improve your weaknesses. Put all work on your strenghts.
I’m sure there’s something you are able to do with just a little effort. Just take that, work on it as hard as you can, become the best at it.
It’s way easier to succeed in something you control and are familiar with, than on things you would like to start exploring and trying, since you never know how that is going turn out in the end.
You Have Fear To Failure
Even the most successful people on the planet have at some point had fear of failure.
Do you know the difference between you and them?
They do it anyway.
Because they know that if you haven’t failed, it means you haven’t even tried, and if you do not try, what do you expect to get?
So have fear of failure, it’s permitted, but do it anyway.
Try. Fail. Try again. Fail better. Try one more time… That’s the actual way to success.
Those who are at the top have failed more times that you have even tried.
Failure means you’re on your way. It is the previous step of success.
You Put Too Much Pressure On The Short Term
There’s no such thing as getting rich overnight, unless you hit the lotto or suddenly discover that you inherited a fortune from a distant uncle you didn’t even know existed.
The majority of businesses and projects need their own process, and it takes time for them to reach to the top.
Work hard and be patient.
We live in a very competitive world and Internet is full of successful people talking about how it is like to be at the top.
Learn from them, but remember it also took a while for them to be there.
If you’re just starting off, do not put too much pressure on yourself, just set the goals and go for them.
You’ll see how, if you focus on working, it will eventually pay off.
Try to enjoy the ride.
You Apologize For Who You Are
Every person has their own circumstances. Everyone has to walk their own way.
Do not think less of yourself.
Just be you, and do your own thing.
The first step to succeed is accepting yourself as who you are, with your strenghts, your weaknesses and everything that’s in you.
Love yourself and you’ll see how things flow better, because if you’re too focused on your behavior, you lose control of yourself, you start to second-guess what you do, and you’re condemned to failure.
Success starts by believing in yourself and forgeting about your own insecurities. Just shut them down with your actions.
You Are Always Asking For Permission
Why do you need others’ permission to do your thing?
If you spend your life waiting for people to give green light to your projects or proposals, you’re going to die waiting.
Just do it. Take action.
You’re the only responsible for your own success. If you keep putting that responsibility on others you’re just making excuses again.
You know all those occasions you didn’t undertake a project just because you were waiting for someone to give you the final OK?
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but, it’s very likely that if you would have done that on your own terms, it would have been fine most of the times.
You can always say “sorry, I didn’t know that” if it eventually goes south… Otherwise, you’re going to lose a lot of opportunities.
It’s better to ask for forgiveness than permission.
You Are Too Focused On What Others Think About You
It’s your project, your mission, your journey, your shot.
Nobody has the right to tell you how you have to live your life. So forget about the whole world’s opinion.
Focus on yourself and do your own thing. Make your own way.
Do not let others control how you feel about you and your work, it’s your own acceptance what’s important.
Take the reigns of your life. Be confident on what you do.
Surround yourself with like-minded people who encourage you to be better, that push you to your limits and believe in you, that help you achieve your goals.
You’re the only one in charge of your success, remember?
So don’t let other’s insecurities affect you.
You Do Things You Dislike
What are you doing right now that will help you achieve your dreams and goals?
Are you currently doing many things that are distracting you from them?
You need to stop doing those things that are not useful in your way to success.
There is no need to do things you dislike. Really.
Start putting first the things that you like doing, and the others will begin to vanish and eventually disappear.
It’s your life. You get just one.
You decide if you want to spend your time doing something you don’t like for others that won’t value it, or if you want to actually do what you love and be happy.
You Give Up Too Soon
Do you know why it’s always the same people winning awards, championships… Always the same ones making the big bucks, standing at the top…?
They all have two things in common: They work hard no matter what and they do not ever give up.
Your insecurities make you second-guess your actions and not believe in your own success and you end up giving up too soon.
Sometimes you may have given up just when your project was about to boost… If you only had been a little more patient and confident, you’d have made it.
The moment you start believing in yourself, it’s hard to give up from then on, and that’s what creates the perfect mindset to make things happen.
When you give up, you’re again making excuses and thinking less of your skills and capacities.
Give yourself a break and trust your own possibilities for a change.
Change Your Mindset To A Successful One
Now it’s when you say: “yeah, whatever, easier said than done, dude”.
And I reply: “That’s just another excuse to not face that you can be successful if you want to”.
Stop self-sabotaging yourself.
Figure out what it is that you love.
Make a detailed plan, but do not overthink it too much.
Take action and don’t look back.
Believe in yourself and do not listen to what others have to say about you.
Do not ever give up.
Adopt a winner mindset and you’re unstoppable!
See you at the top! 😉
